Cob Oven Building

Local food is best in a homemade oven using locally sourced materials.

In this workshop, participants made a cob oven using sand, water, straw and clay, mixing it with their feet. Using this mixture, they made bricks used to mold the dome shaped oven. A found piece of slate became the base for the oven. Recycled bottles provided the insulation.

The group completed the oven in one day, and after a few days of drying, it was ready to use.
